Gin Gin residents are encouraged to get in the Christmas spirit with a number of festive events happening.

Gin Gin residents are being encouraged to get into the Christmas spirit with a number of festive events happening in the coming weeks.

The call is out for donations as part of the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Appeal with non-perishable food and/or small gifts greatly appreciated.

The community has until Friday 9 December to donate items for the appeal, with drops offs to be made to the Gin Gin Community Hub.

Arts and crafts will also be taking place with Phil McNamara leading a Christmas ornaments workshop.

Bringing the community together is a Christmas lunch, to be held at the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre on Thursday 15 December, with raffles, music, and fun.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Community Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Tracey McPhee said the events were the perfect way to spread festive cheer around Gin Gin.

“There is an event for everyone in Gin Gin, with the upcoming Christmas ornaments workshop and community Christmas lunch,” Cr McPhee said.

“I encourage the community to also donate to the Christmas Cheer Appeal should they be able, to help make Christmas a special time for everyone around the region.”

Community Christmas Appeal

Each year the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre works with the community to deliver Christmas hampers to those who need a helping hand.

As part of the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Appeal, the centre is seeking extra support this year from the community for donations of non-perishable food and/or small gifts.

If you think you can help, leave donations at the Gin Gin Community Hub.

Members of the community can nominate a family in need to receive a Christmas hamper from November.

To nominate a family for a hamper, download a form from bundaberg.qld.gov.au or collect from the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre.

Forms to be returned to the Hub reception on completion.

Not all nominated families are guaranteed a hamper.

Donations will be accepted until Friday, 9 December.
