Bundaberg Regional Council has secured a timeline for its annual major events with residents encouraged to save the dates.

Mark your calendar because there will be plenty of events and celebrations to attend in the region this year, including favourites like the Taste Bundaberg Festival and Canterbury Bulldogs NRL game.

Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said Bundaberg Regional Council had secured a timeline for its annual major events with residents encouraged to save the dates.

He said the festivities would begin later this month when the community gets together for Lunar New Year at the Botanic Gardens.

Then, Australia Day will kick off with some fun down by the beach on Thursday 26 January.

“Lunar New Year will bring culture and community together in the Botanic Gardens from Sunday 22 January,” he said.

“Then it will be time for Australia Day celebrations, hosted again by the Rotary Club of Bundaberg City Daybreak.

“With live bands, stalls, train rides and more, there will be plenty on offer for the whole family to enjoy!”

Cr Learmonth said in April, Anzac Day commemorations would be hosted before the Childers Festival calendar kicks off in July.

Then, the Canterbury Bulldogs will return for their NRL match at Salter Oval on 30 July.

“This will be followed by Taste Bundaberg Festival in August and Milbi Festival in October,” Cr Learmonth said.

“These very popular events draw in crowds from near and far.

“With food, festivities and fun on the agenda, 2023 is sure to feature many amazing highlights.”

From 1 December the Christmas program will be released with a variety of festive activities on the agenda.

Cr Learmonth said Bundaberg Regional Council was proud of its major events and looked forward to celebrating with the community across the coming months.

“Events like these help to bring the community together to celebrate all that’s good in the region,” he said.
