Residents can improve strength and flexibility with Gentle Stretch, Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates and increase the intensity with cardio and strength classes, BoxFit and mSwing.

Bundaberg Regional Council delivered 329 free fitness sessions in 22 weeks as part of its 2022 Be Active Be Alive program with more health and wellbeing initiatives in store.

The Be Active Be Alive program promotes free fitness for the community and aims to help residents kick start fitness goals.

The program also dissolves barriers that the community may face engaging in fitness while delivering fun, free and local classes to all.

Now in its tenth year and stronger than ever, the Be Active Be Alive program continues to engage experts from the local health and fitness industry, utilising not only pools and parks, but provider venues as well.

Some of the key 2022 Be Active Be Alive program statistics included:

  • Three seasonal programs: eight week summer, six week winter and eight week spring rounds.
  • The eight week summer program held 115 sessions
  • The six week winter program included 84 sessions
  • The eight week spring program delivered a further 130 sessions
  • Engaged with over 30 local providers

Providers who were part of the program reported an increase in participation, with participants continuing their health and fitness journey following the free 2022 Be Active Be Alive sessions.
