Community Events is holding a barbecue in the hall 7.00-9.00 Citizen of the Year and Community Group of the year will be announced.
Then you can pop straight over to the Club for the Australia Day activities, thong throwing, competitions etc.have a nice lunch then straight into Billy’s Thursday Bowls!

The Draws have been completed for the 2023 B Grade Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours as well as the Men’s A & B Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Mixed Fours. The Draws are on the competition boards at the Club, so please have a look and start arranging games by mutual agreement.

Reminder: The first round of the Championship Pairs must be played on or before Sunday 12th February 9.30am start. (Play, Sub, or Forfeit)

MEMBERSHIP FEES

Membership fees are now well overdue. Please remember that you must be a current financial member to participate in the Club Championships. Fees can be paid across the bar or to John Barry.

SOCIAL BOWLS EVENTS

Visitors are most welcome on all playing days. Entry sheets are at the club or phone the Club on 41514217 during opening hours. If you cannot get through to the club number regarding bowls, then phone 0401341378 or 0466539441.

Tuesday 24th January: $300 Open Triples – Men’s, Ladies, Mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.45pm for a 1 pm start. The 2 bowl ‘Toucher Jackpot’ will be played after the game and is now $340.

Wednesday 25th January: ‘Scroungers’ Singles – this is a fun game of Singles similar to consistency singles where points are allocated to the 4 closest bowls to the jack. Games are played over 12 ends with no driving allowed. Names in by 6.15pm with games starting at 6.30pm. Green fees are $8 with 50 percent of the green fees being returned as prizemoney. All ability levels are welcome so come along for a fun night out.

Thursday 26th January: Australia Day: CLUB CLOSED

Friday 27th January: Open Pairs (Men’s, Ladies, Mixed) 1pm start, names by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.45pm. Enjoy some social bowls with the chance to win the Friday Jackpot which is $500.

Saturday 28th January – Open Pairs – men’s, ladies or mixed. Names in by 12pm, green fees paid by 12.45pm for a 1 pm start. 2 Bowl Toucher Jackpot played after the game.

QLD JUNIOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Burnett successfully co-hosted the BQ State Junior Championships last week. The first three days, the Juniors played in the drizzling rain with the remainder of the week clearing up. For those who watched, you would have seen an extremely high level of bowls being played in some quite difficult conditions.

Burnett Juniors performed quite well over the week with some great results. U18 Open Fours – Phoebe Russell and Christian McLellan reached the Bronze Medal playoff only to go down 22-20. U15 Open Pairs: Jamieson Morgan (Burnett) teamed with Latrell Lawton (Charleville) to win the Gold medal by defeating Cooper Sutton (Pialba) and Bryce Jarrett (Pialba) 15-12 in the Final. Congratulation Jamieson! In the same event Phoebie Russell claimed the Bronze Medal by teaming up with Mia Haylock (Roma) by winning their match 16-15. Well done, Phoebie!

Saturday 4th February: Round 1 of the Wide Bay Bowls Classic (WBBC). Division 1 Vs Maryborough at Burnett. Division 3 has a BYE. Division 1 team selections are on the Club noticeboard.

Live entertainment for this Friday night the 27th January will be Neil Wenck and the following Friday the 3rd February, live music will be delivered by ‘The Other Bloke’. Members, Guests, and Visitors are always welcome.
