Sue Evans is excited to hold her first solo exhibition called Eclectic, which showcases a number of her abstract artwork, at Gin Gin Courthouse Gallery throughout March.

Creativity runs through the blood of Sue Evans, who is now venturing into the world of art with abstract painting following a great loss in her life.

Sue is enthusiastic about the opportunity to hold her first solo exhibition called Eclectic, which showcases a number of her abstract artworks, at Gin Gin Courthouse Gallery throughout March.

As a Childers Visual Arts Group member Sue said she was inspired to pick up a brush and paint her emotions.

“Following my attendance at an acrylics workshop facilitated by Allan Honor, I joined Childers Visual Arts Group and began to gain some knowledge about art in its various forms,” she said.

“However, I did not produce my first intuitive abstract painting (Garden of Life) until July 2021.

“Garden of Life was my expression of life and joy following my partner’s death that year.”

A creative writer, singer and performer for most of her life, Sue said she was relatively new to art and painting.

“In my community services work, I have always assisted clients to experience art in various forms, either by directly facilitating workshops, obtaining funding for others to conduct workshops or to fund participation by clients and assisting with organisation of arts related events and opportunities,” Sue said.

The Eclectic exhibition at Gin Gin Courthouse will be a new opportunity for Sue.

“As part of the Childers Visual Arts Group’s ‘My Backyard’ exhibition at Gympie Regional Art Gallery, I currently have three pieces of art on display,” she said.

“It was a proud but nerve-wracking moment to visit the gallery and see them on display.

“I am inspired by the very talented members of the group and have appreciated their support and advice.

“I am a work in progress and constantly learning.

“I love the vibrancy and colours of acrylic and particularly enjoy intuitive abstract work.

“I hope you enjoy my first solo exhibition.”
