The Moore Park Beach Arts Festival Art Awards have been launched for 2024 with a range of categories open to all budding artists.
Art Awards Coordinator Jess Newitt said this year’s event would appeal to artists of all ages, experiences and favoured mediums.
“The Art Award entries have some exciting new categories, as well as some of the long-term favourites,” Jess said.
This year’s categories are:
Acrylic – any subject.
Oil paintings – any subject
Watercolour paintings – any subject.
Mixed media paintings – A combination of two or more media or materials such as drawing, painting and/or collage. Wet media (such as acrylic paint, watercolour, ink, or other liquid media) combined with dry media (oil pastels, graphite, crayon).
Drawing – Example but not limited to graphite pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, coloured pencils, pastels, markers etc.
Abstract works on paper or canvas – Open interpretation in any medium on paper or canvas.
Sculpture – Any non-perishable material. Maximum 1 metre x 1 metre and under 10 kilograms.
Fibre arts – Works of art created in natural or synthetic fibres.
Photography – Any subject. Entries must have been photographed by the entrant and must be 100% photographic in origin. Images may be digitally altered or enhanced but cannot be created wholly or in part with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
First time exhibitors – Any subject in any medium.
Open acquisition – Any subject in any medium.
Under 18 junior acquisition – Any subject in any medium.
Junior artists 6 – 11 years – Any subject in any medium.
Junior artists 12 – 18 years – Any subject in any medium.
All entries will be eligible for the Pat Walker Memorial Perpetual Trophy (overall “Best in Show” as awarded by the judges) and People’s Choice Award.
“We will also be having some new initiatives like extended entry delivery days and times, to help people who are working during the normal delivery times,” Jess said.
“We are excited to announce our three judges are Marlies Oakley, Kate Neil and Cr John Learmonth”.
Entry Fees are $10 for adults and $5 for juniors in any section with a maximum of four entries overall (maximum two entries per section).
Entry forms can be downloaded here and paper copies will soon be available at the Moore Park Beach Community Association Hub on Sylvan Drive, Bundaberg Art Society’s Hazzard Gallery and The Book Boutique.
