The community is invited to strap on their shoes and take part in the annual Red Nose Walk To Remember event at Elliott Heads.
During October the Red Nose organisation will be walking side by side with bereaved families across Australia to honour and remember the babies who died before taking their first steps.
Held throughout Pregnancy and Infancy Loss Awareness month, Walk To Remember will returns to Elliott Heads on Sunday 27 October.
Red Nose CEO Keren Ludski said sadly 3,000 little lives were lost suddenly and unexpectedly each year, and it was estimated that one in four pregnancies ended in miscarriage.
The event is a touching and symbolic way to support families tragically affected by the loss of a pregnancy, stillbirth or death of a baby or child.
“These heart-warming gatherings go far beyond just remembering,” Keren said.
“They provide a loving space to embrace grief, pay tribute to, and cherish the precious little lives we’ve lost.
“At our Walk to Remember events, Red Nose aims to bring together families, friends, and support networks, helping to break the stigma surrounding pregnancy, baby, and child loss.”
Walk to Remember events are an opportunity for the community to support bereaved families and walk the steps their children never got to take.
It allows families to openly talk about their babies and children with people who have experienced a similar tragedy, helping to break the stigma around bereavement and loss.
The event also allows them to build connections with their community, and is open to everyone, from parents and siblings to extended family members, friends and those in professional roles who support bereaved parents.
There will also be formal ceremonies, including speeches from bereaved parents in memory of their little ones.
Each registered family will also receive a pinwheel which represents the wheel of life.
Registrations are open now, click here for more information.
The Red Nose Grief and Loss Support Line is available 24/7 for anyone affected by the loss of a pregnancy, stillbirth or death of a baby or child on 1300 308 307.
