A travelling film festival, Aussie music legends, critically acclaimed theatre and Christmas favourites will light up the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre stage from October to December.
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts, Heritage and Asset Management portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said the packed program offered something for everyone.
“I encourage everyone to check out the new program as we have a wonderful three months of performance, song, cinema and comedy lined up,” Cr Learmonth said.
“In October, James Reyne will return to the region to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Australian Crawl’s greatest hits, featuring all the songs you know and love.
“We also have an unforgettable night featuring the music of Dolly Parton performed by Brooke McMullen and her Honky Tonk band which will take the audience on a musical voyage through Dolly’s career.”
Popular local performers also feature in the program, including the Bundaberg Caledonia Pipe Band performing Highland Harmony with special guests Suellen Cusack-Greensill, Kate Hardisty and Scottish dancers.
The Big Sing returns on Tuesday 8 October with Bundaberg musician Christie Maree Jacobsen leading the audience in 3-part harmony of an Aussie rock classic as part of Queensland Mental Health Week.
Cr Learmonth said the superstars sprinkled throughout the program showcased the quality of programming presented by the Moncrieff.
“We will have legendary singer-songwriter Graeme Connors and Australian musical treasure Marcia Hines here in the same week, providing local audiences the chance to see world-class acts in our region,” he said.
“We have some great comedy with Jimeon and the Kransky Sisters shows, and a wealth of engaging cinema, including the Sydney Travelling Film Festival and a special Senior’s month showing of ‘One Life’ starring Anthony Hopkins.”
Younger audiences also have much to look forward to in the new program.
“We are thrilled to have award-winning children’s performer Lucas Proudfoot bring his cast of unforgettable characters to the Moncrieff for ‘Proudfoot and Friends’ as part of this year’s Milbi Festival.”
“Featuring digital puppeteering, choreographed animated projects, music and comedy, this performance will delight audiences young and old.
“Closer to Christmas there will be a free screening of ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon’, showing the power of unlimited imagination and creativity in this beloved children’s classic.”
