The Playhouse Theatre’s Youth Theatre program is set to launch on 19 February, with tremendous opportunities for 10 to 18 year olds.
Established in 1971 and driven by an evident need for exciting practical theatre experience for Bundaberg’s young people (aged 10 – 18 years), the Playhouse Theatre runs the once-yearly Youth Theatre program under the stewardship of the organisation’s Youth Theatre Director.
Youth Theatre Director Tracey Shears said she was looking forward to a great year.
“Based on last year’s amazing rehearsal process and outstanding performances of, “School of Rock”, this year the place to be is Youth Theatre at Bundaberg Playhouse,” Tracey said.
“On Wednesday 19 February at 6.30 pm there is a sign on at the Playhouse Theatre – it’s a chance for young people and their parents to collect forms, meet people and ask questions.
“Then, everyone will come for the first Youth Theatre session on Wednesday 26th February from 6.30 to 8.30pm.
“At this stage, membership is $55.
“For those cast in Popstars, an additional $22 is required to cover the cost of a show t-shirt.
“There will no extra charge for those in the Development Program, which will consist of ten weekly workshops during Term 2, Wednesday 16 April to Wednesday 18 June 2025 (dates to be confirmed).”
Everyone interested in performing is invited to go along to Sign On Night in the main auditorium at The Playhouse Theatre, 2b Steffensen Street, West Bundaberg.
The only stipulation is that they are at least 10 years old by that date; through until 18 years old.
