Bundaberg Regional Council is triaging hundreds of public requests for repairs to roads, drains and pathways after intense rain battered the region this week.
More than 120 mm was recorded after Wednesday evening’s deluge, which caused flash flooding in some areas and significant damage to the road and stormwater networks.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said crews were working diligently to address all repairs under challenging conditions and urged residents to remain patient.
“Council has received upward of 300 requests from the public about the damage to our roads and drains,” she said.
“Please know, our teams are working tirelessly to respond to requests and prioritise repairs where they are most needed.
“We ask for your continued patience as we work to triage these requests, ensuring that the most urgent issues are addressed first.”
Mayor Blackburn said the weather had not only led to a significant number of damage reports but had also impacted ongoing projects.
“Heavy rain and flash flooding have caused delays with machinery and equipment unable to access sites due to the inundation,” she said.
“This is impacting repair work and has also affected the progress of certain projects across the region.
“We understand the frustration that comes with these delays, but rest assured, our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to respond to requests.
“We thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time.”
Residents are encouraged to use the Snap Send Solve app to report damage to infrastructure directly to the Council.
