Bundaberg Regional Galleries’ new Winter Program is full of fascinating exhibitions and experiences to fuel your creativity throughout the cooler months.

Offering new exhibitions and opportunities to meet artists, along with a range of public events, the program is available online on the Arts Bundaberg website.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts and Heritage portfolio spokesperson Councillor John Learmonth said the Winter Program would appeal to visitors and locals alike.

“The Galleries new program is bursting with things to see and do all season long,” Cr Learmonth said.

“Along with exhibition openings and our regular art walks, for those who want to get hands on, there are a number of workshops and information sessions.

“On Friday 9 May, we see the return of the Twilight Artisan Markets, supporting our wonderful local makers, and just in time to pick up something special for Mother’s Day.

“The digital program is available now, and it’s a great resource for planning your winter art adventures.”

On now at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, Wallum Whispers by artist Nicole Jakins and Neon Coral Confetti by artist Lisa Ashcroft, both respond to the region’s natural environment and the inherent fragility of these ecosystems.

In the Imaginarts space at Bundaberg Regional Gallery, exhibition visitors can take a moment to reflect on life in the Bundaberg Region as part of the interactive I Know a Place installation.

This participatory installation invites audiences to share what they love about where they live, by adding a place card to a 3D map of the Bundaberg Region.

As temperatures drop and we pull out the winter woollies, the art of quilting will be on show at Childers Arts Space.

Exhibition State of the Art 25,opening Saturday 3 May, presents a survey of contemporary textile art highlighting the remarkable talents of members of Queensland Quilters Inc.

Opening at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery in July, touring exhibition Carbon_Dating, presents a series of artwork-based experiments focused on Australia’s endangered native grasses.

Also opening in July, The Mom Bra exhibition from US based artist Cassie Arnold is a gentle, and at times playful, protest against unrealistic beauty standards for women.

Cassie’s hand knitted artworks celebrate the natural curves, scars, wrinkles and textures of women’s bodies to present an alternative view of beauty and womanhood.
