The Newth family read to help out at the Mount Perry Show.

The Bundaberg Four Wheel Drive Club has had a long history with Mount Perry and with this year’s 78th show run over the Easter weekend we headed up to help once again, by setting up for the show and volunteering to fill in where we were needed.

The weather gods turned it on this year and gave the two day event perfect weather.

Show days kicked off early with horse and cattle events, dog showing, sideshow alley, camp draft, ringside entertainment and the obligatory woodchop.

Some of our club members entered a multitude of items in the various pavilion categories and came away with a few wins.

Music in the evening kept the crowd entertained, as did the fireworks display. After all our work was done the members headed out to a private property to do some off roading.

Small country towns are struggling to get volunteers to help with their major events, so as a club we like to help where we can.

They also need the local community to attend events like the show so they can keep the tradition alive.

We are grateful for the support of property owners in the area that let us access the special places that our club gets to drive to and look forward to more trips to the area.
