A free movie, rocket building or BMX workshops and outdoor adventures are just some of the highlights of Bundaberg Regional Council’s School Holiday Guide that will be keeping families across the Bundaberg Region entertained.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said from Gin Gin to the Bundaberg CBD and out to the coast, the diverse program was designed to keep children entertained and inspired during the break.
“There’s truly something for everyone, whether your family is interested in wildlife, arts and culture, outdoor adventures or just spending quality time together at one of our great local venues,” she said.
Over the holidays animal lovers can head to Alexandra Park Zoo to take part in the popular Zoo Keeper Talks.
These sessions give children the chance to learn more about the zoo’s residents and the vital work of keepers in caring for them.
For film buffs there will be a free screening of The Garfield Movie at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre as well as a variety of performances including a circus, musical and even an appearance from Dorothy the Dinosaur.
Nature enthusiasts can enjoy outdoor adventures along the rocky shores to discover the rich marine biodiversity of the coastline while a BMX workshop and rocket ship building will also offer plenty of hands-on fun.
With dozens of free or low-cost events available, Mayor Blackburn said the School Holiday Guide was the perfect resource for planning a fun-filled break for the whole family.
“It’s all about helping families make the most of their time together while exploring what our fantastic region has to offer,” she said.
