Suzanne Robinson’s Collective Experience will share her journey through art and as a carer as her exhibition opens at Gin Gin Regional Courthouse Gallery this month.

As Gin Gin Fine Arts Society president and Gin Gin Regional Courthouse Gallery director Suzanne’s life is immersed in art, but the last 12 months she found herself turning to it more than ever.

“The last 12 months have been quite hard, my husband has been unwell, and we’ve been married for 45 years,” she said.

“I found during this time, even though I wasn’t getting pieces finished, that I kept starting new pieces.

“Art has an amazing way of helping people deal with their difficulties.

“Art is expression of freedom regardless of how you are feeling or coping.”

Collective Experience showcases 60 pieces

Suzanne’s Collective Experience exhibition will showcase 60 artworks, including pastel and photography, she has created over a 10-year period, in her journey through art, joy, travel, friendship and family.

She said almost all of the artwork would be available for purchase, expect the pieces she held closest to her heart.

“I do have some award-winning pieces that I think have earned their keep, so I’ll be keeping them,” Suzanne said.

In October 2019, Suzanne was fortunate enough to have her pastel artwork displayed alongside 20 other pastel works from around the world at an exhibition in China.

She was one of two Australian artists chosen to exhibit in China, and she said it was a privilege, and she is grateful her art has taken her around the world.

Collective Experience will open at Gin Gin Regional Courthouse Gallery on Saturday, 6 February and run through to Wednesday, 3 March.
