Childers and Gin Gin residents looking to get switched on about energy efficiency will have more support thanks to The Charge Up! project.
The free program will be run through the Childers and Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centres and aims to help residents reduce their energy bills, improve their energy knowledge and become more energy efficient.
Bundaberg Regional Council Community Resilience and Connection portfolio spokesperson Councillor Tracey McPhee said it was a valuable initiative for the community.
“Electricity bills can be a significant household expense, and many people aren’t aware of the simple ways they can reduce their energy usage and save money,” Cr McPhee said.
“The Charge Up! project is all about empowering residents with knowledge—whether it’s understanding tariffs, learning how to read their bill properly, or finding out about available concessions.”
The program will run throughout the year and offer pop-up stalls, workshops and even one-on-one information sessions.
“By taking advantage of free workshops and one-on-one sessions through the Charge Up! project, residents in Childers and Gin Gin can make informed decisions about their energy use,” Cr McPhee said.
“A little education can lead to real savings, making it easier for households to manage their energy costs and keep more of their hard-earned dollars in their pockets.”
All sessions will run between the Childers and Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centres once a month with flexibility to arrange other visits when needed.
Residents are encouraged to keep checking the information page on the Council website as more dates will be added throughout the year.
The Charge Up! project is funded by the Queensland Government as part of the Enable Grants Program through the Queensland Council of Social Services Ltd.
