The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will start pavement rehabilitation this month on Bundaberg-Bargara Road (locally known as Princess Street) between Scotland Street and Whittred Street.
Princess Street, which carries more than 18,000 vehicles per day, was identified as a high priority for pavement rehabilitation through a condition assessment for the district road network.
As part of the works, TMR will signalise the pedestrian crossing at the Princess Street and Whittred Street intersection and extend the dedicated turn lanes into Scotland Street, Cross Street and Bunda Street to reduce the risk of rear-end crashes.
Construction will take approximately three months to complete, weather and other conditions permitting.
During construction, east-bound traffic will remain on Bundaberg–Bargara Road under controlled conditions, while west-bound traffic will need to be detoured via Bundaberg Ring Road, Telegraph Road and Scotland Street.
Businesses will remain open during the works, and access for residents and businesses will be maintained under controlled conditions.
Information on the latest traffic conditions is available by phoning 13 19 40, or by visiting QLDTraffic at qldtraffic.qld.gov.au.
