Bunnings serves up a snag to FightMND

The Bundaberg team cook up a storm at Bunnings to raise funds for FightMND.

Over the weekend the Bunnings Bundaberg team donned their beanies and armed themselves with barbecue tongs for FightMND – helping to raise vital funds for motor neurone disease (MND).

The local team joined other stores across the country to host a national sausage sizzle on Saturday 17 May from 9 am to 4 pm.

This year, FightMND are asking Aussies to ‘live it forward for those who can’t’ to positively write the future of the fight against the beast that is MND.

Members of the community supported the sausage sizzle and had the opportunity to grab a Big Freeze 11 beanie or bucket.

Bunnings Bundaberg Complex Manager Kelly Ritchie said she was honoured to be involved.

“We’re really proud to throw on our beanies and fire up the barbecue to get behind the national sausage sizzle at Bunnings Bundaberg, all to support the great cause that is FightMND,” she said.

“Every snag served helps raise vital funds and awareness to take down motor neurone disease”

This year, Bunnings will also be stocking a FightMND pet toy at stores across Australia for the first time, with aims to increase the money raised for 2025.

Funds raised will help bring FightMND one step closer to finding effective treatments and a cure for MND.

Bunnings Chief Operations Officer Ryan Baker says Bunnings was proud to be supporting FightMND for the seventh year running.

“Our team are really passionate about FightMND and will be out supporting Big Freeze 11 in full force,” he said.

“We feel very honoured to be supporting the cause for our seventh consecutive year. In this time, we’ve seen firsthand the hard work and dedication of the team at FightMND as they work to find a cure for the beast that is motor neurone disease.

“We encourage all our customers to dig deep and grab a beanie, bucket, pet toy or snag over the next few weeks to do their bit in living it forward for those that can’t.”

The annual FightMND Big Freeze campaign is marking its milestone 11th year and FightMND CEO Matt Tilley said the vision of a world free of MND has kept the fight alive.

“The passion we see from our besties at Bunnings is one of the great motivating forces for the team at FightMND,” he said.

“Like most people, pretty much every weekend I sit in my car at Bunnings and rationalise why I need a snag in bread with onion – occasionally without even going in store.

“Now we get to call it ‘work’.

“We are so excited that Beanies and Buckets make a welcome return to the Bunnings floor and the new pet toy is a ripper. Thanks, Bunnings, for being such a vital part of the FightMND Army!”
