Bundaberg & Fraser Coast Relay for Life is fundraising once more for Cancer Council Queensland’s research and support services, with an event planned at the Bundaberg Recreation Precinct on Saturday 19 July.

Harrison Titmarsh, Bundaberg & Fraser Coast Relay for Life Chair, had this to say about the upcoming event.

What is the purpose of this fundraiser?

Bundaberg & Fraser Coast Relay for Life raises vital for Cancer Council Queensland for research and support services.

The money raised helps advance research into better treatments and ultimately finding a cure.

Additionally, the fund also allows Cancer Council Queensland to provide support to patients and families including accommodation, transport, prevention activities and much more.

We are aiming to raise $90,000 for Cancer Council Queensland.

What activities are planned as part of the fundraiser?

First up in the morning, prior to the Relay for Life commencing, we have our survivors and carers morning tea from 10.30 am, at the main pavilion exhibition room at the Bundaberg Recreation Precinct.

This morning tea allows us to celebrate and remember those who have fought cancer, lost a loved one or are currently fighting cancer.

Bundaberg Music Promotion have organised a fantastic line up of local artists and bands to play all throughout the event.

The 2025 Bundaberg & Fraser Coast Relay for Life will start from 12 – 9 pm.

This year’s theme is Aussie Icons, so come dressed as your favourite rockstar, movie star or favourite animal.

Something Aussie and iconic.

Who are the key partners or sponsors involved in this fundraiser?

We have had so many wonderful businesses and organisations reach out and help support the Bundaberg & Fraser Coast Relay for Life.

Without the sponsors this event would not be possible.

We are very thankful for the two major sponsors of this year’s event, Bundaberg Regional Council and Jam Outdoor.

Bundaberg Regional Council waived the fees for using the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct and Jam Outdoor have given us a billboard on Salvation Army since April, this is valued at over $5,000.

How can community members become involved?

Community members can register a team here.

It could be a team from your workplace, friends or family.

They can run, walk or jog around the track, and make lasting memories and a real impact.

When it comes to cancer, it takes a community.

Can you share any success stories from past fundraisers?

Over the years, Bundaberg & Fraser Coast Relay for Life has raised a significant amount of funds which have such a positive impact.

Without raising these vital funds, services like cancer research, early prevention and support services wouldn’t be available.

What message would you like to share with the community about the importance of supporting this cause?

Relay for Life is such an important event.

It not only brings the community together and makes a positive impact, but it also raises vital funds for Cancer Council Queensland.

This event is about much more than just fundraising, it’s about hope, strength and unity in the face of cancer.

Relay for Life injects some fun and celebration into such an evil disease, reminding us all that even in the darkest times there’s light and job to be found.

Every lap walked, every dollar raised, and every moment shared at Relay for Life contributes directly to improving cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

It’s a powerful reminder that when a community unites real change happens and hope becomes a powerful force.

How can people stay updated on the fundraiser and is there anything further you would like to include?
