Free dance classes promote health and fitness

Come and try four free dance classes in Bundaberg from 4000 offered nationally by the Australian Sports Commission.

Blitz Ballroom Dance is offering free dance classes to the community as part of a nationwide partnership between the Australian Sports Commission and DanceSport Australia.

The Come and Try program is available for eight weeks for adults and is the perfect opportunity to dive into the world of dancing and start learning popular dances such as Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Waltz and more.

The program forms part of part the Play Well project which aims to encourage Australians to get active and discover the joy of dancing.

“The Come and Try 2025 program is an exciting opportunity to engage with the community and promote dance in a convenient and accessible way,” Chairman of the DSA Play Well Committee Martyn Kibel said.

“There are over 80 participating studios across Australia for people over 18 years old.

“We conducted a pilot across Victoria in Autumn 2025 surpassing our goal of 500 participants.”

The Come and Try program runs from 7 July till 30 August 2025.

Limited spots available.

Only the first 4,000 coupons can be redeemed across Australia before 28 September 2025.

What to do first

Let the studio know you’re coming so they can manage bookings and staffing. Please contact the studio directly via phone, email or their social media.

Come early

Arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the lesson to be welcomed and given relevant information.

Do I need a partner?

No, many come alone and there are plenty of students and teachers to dance with. Friends and partners are welcome.

What to wear

Dress in neat casual comfortable clothing. Wear shoes that you will be able to dance in – a pair of flat shoes or runners.

No thongs or sandals please.

What to bring?

A water bottle, a willingness to learn and a sense of humour!
