This Friday Lady Musgrave Experience will join the Shalom College Careers Expo to connect with high school students and highlight the exciting career pathways available in ecotourism and marine conservation.
As one of Queensland’s leading reef-based tourism operators, Lady Musgrave Experience is passionate about inspiring the next generation of marine professionals.
The team will be sharing real-life success stories from young staff members who have turned their passion for the ocean into rewarding, purpose-driven careers.
The crew stories featured will include Jack White, who started with Lady Musgrave Experience at 16 as a deckhand.
He has since completed his Coxswain’s certification and is now operating and running glass-bottom boat tours, gaining valuable qualifications in marine operations and being supported to complete his Master IV.
Dylan Theuerkauf also began as a deckhand straight after school. With the support of Lady Musgrave Experience, Dylan has already earned his Coxswain and MED II certifications and is working toward becoming a Master IV to captain the luxury catamaran.
Lady Musgrave Experience is committed to mentoring young people and providing them with real opportunities for growth.
Director, Brett Lakey encourages staff to continue their training and has helped dozens of young adults gain the skills and confidence to succeed in the marine tourism industry.
In addition to career inspiration, students will hear about Lady Musgrave Experience’s leadership in sustainable tourism.
The company holds an Advanced Ecotourism Certification and plays an active role in reef monitoring and marine education.
Every tour is designed to protect the reef while fostering a deep appreciation for its beauty and importance.
“Marine tourism offers more than just a job. It’s a chance to work in nature, make a difference, and build a meaningful career,” Brett said.
“We want students to know there is a future for them on the reef, and there are multiple pathways to a successful career, including straight from school or through university, with plenty of opportunities for growth.”
Students interested in marine biology, tourism and hospitality, vessel operations or sustainability are encouraged to visit the Lady Musgrave Experience booth at the expo to meet the team and ask questions.
