Moore Park Beach art awards entries now open

The Moore Park Beach Arts Festival Art Awards have been launched for 2025, with all artists of any age or experience welcome.

The Moore Park Beach Arts Festival Art Awards have been launched for 2025.

Art Awards Coordinator Trish Mears said this year’s event would appeal to artists of all ages, experience and favoured media.

“There is a category for just about everyone in this year’s Moore Park Beach Art Awards and over $5,000 in prize money,” Trish said.

“We have had so much incredible art entered over the years and this year will be no exception.

“We are excited to be able to use our new Moore Park Beach Arts Annex to display our Schools Art Competition entries, as well as some of our Art Award categories”.

This year’s categories are:

  1. Acrylic painting – any subject
  2. Oil painting – any subject
  3. Watercolour painting – any subject
  4. Mixed media painting – a combination of two or more media or materials such as drawing, painting and/or collage. Wet media (such as acrylic paint, watercolour, ink or other liquid media) combined with dry media (oil pastels, graphite or crayon).
  5. Drawing – can include but is not limited to graphite pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, coloured pencils, pastels or markers.
  6. Abstract works on paper or canvas – open interpretation in any medium on paper or canvas
  7. Sculpture – Any non-perishable material. Maximum dimensions are 1 metre by 1 metre and under 10 kilograms.
  8. Fibre arts – works of art created with natural or synthetic fibres
  9. Photography – any subject. Entries must be photographed by the entrant and must be 100% photographic in origin. Images may be digitally altered or enhanced but cannot be created wholly or in part with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
  10. First time exhibitors – any subject and in any medium.
  11. Open acquisition – any subject and in any medium.
  12. Junior artists ( 6 to 11 years old ) – any subject and in any medium.
  13. Junior artists ( 12 to 18 years old ) – any subject in any medium.

All entries will be eligible for the Pat Walker Memorial Perpetual Trophy (Overall “Best in Show” as awarded by the judges) and People’s Choice Award, which is voted on by the festival goers at the Moore Park Beach Arts Festival on Saturday 16 August.

“We are excited to announce our three judges are Shelley Pisani, Sabrina Lauriston and Lucy Train, who bring with them a wealth of knowledge, expertise and local art appreciation,” Trish said.

“We will continue with the extended delivery days, Sunday and Monday, to help people who are working during the normal delivery times.”

Entry fees are $10 for Adults and $5 for Juniors (entering any section).

There are a maximum four entries overall from each competitor (maximum two entries per section).

Paper copies are available at the new Moore Park Beach Community Association Hub on Club Avenue and the Pink House in Moore Park Beach, Bundaberg Art Society’s Hazzard Gallery, Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, Art Plus and The Book Boutique.
