Escape Room: Saving the Beauty of Winter

Mystery, intrigue and discovery await you and your team in this escape room scenario.

An evil scientist, who hates winter and snow, invents a device that is destroying all the snow in your city. You find his lost, top-secret diary, which might lead to his lab. Now you have a chance to turn off this machine and bring back the magic of winter. Are you brave enough to break into his lab and figure out how to stop this madness?

The 150-year-old house that belonged to the most famous illusionist Houdini is now a museum. You decide to go there and learn some of his greatest tricks and illusions. Walking around, your curiosity leads you to a secret room, one in which no one has set foot for over a century. As you enter the room, the door slams shut, leaving you locked inside while the walls start closing in slowly. If you want to get out of this room, you need to get inside the mind of the greatest illusionist and start thinking like him. Can you escape and become the next Houdini?

Join Council’s Natural Areas team at Baldwin Swamp to learn about water ecology by studying water bugs. Dip in your net and see what you can find.

A young ringtail possum’s misguided wish for a white Wishmas at the magical Wishmas Tree not only freezes her entire hometown of Sanctuary City, but also threatens the lives of all who live there. 

Before the Wishmas Tree is gone forever, she must undertake a daring adventure to undo the results of her wish and save her city.

We would like everyone who attends this movie to bring along a non-perishable item to be donated to one of Council’s charities for Christmas.

Christmas! Having forgotten all about the big day, the team launch into a frenzy of gift wrapping, decorations and festive musicmaking. Despite their enthusiasm and energy, they just can't seem to find that warm and fuzzy Christmas feeling in all the usual places. What have they forgotten?

This show features fun original songs, all your favourite Christmas carols and heaps of audience interaction to keep the little ones engaged. Drawing on the themes of kindness and sharing, this musical story encourages young children to discover the true meaning of Christmas: the spirit of giving.

During the performance, Betty and Bob become engaged, and Judy and Phil decide to go through with their own engagement. As everyone sings "White Christmas", a thick snowfall at last blankets Vermont.

In this Christmas classic, an old man going by the name of Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn) fills in for an intoxicated Santa in Macy's annual Thanksgiving Day parade. Kringle proves to be such a hit that he is soon appearing regularly at the chain's main store in midtown Manhattan. When Kringle surprises customers and employees alike by claiming that he really is Santa Claus, it leads to a court case to determine his mental health and, more importantly, his authenticity.

What ensues is a bizarre hearing in which people's beliefs are re-examined and put to the test, but even so, it's going to take a miracle for Kris to win.

Make an Ibis at Hinkler Hall of Aviation

Using a foam ball, paddle pop sticks, feathers and felt, kids can make an Ibis with us! The Ibis inspired Bert Hinkler’s dreams of flight from an early age.

Bert would observe these birds in the lagoons by his school which now form part of the Bundaberg Botanic Gardens. He would later invent an aircraft called ‘the Ibis’ in dedication to the inspiration of his earliest flight endeavours.

Rocky Shore Ramble

As part of the Reef Guardian Council program, join Council’s Natural Areas team and local marine expert, Natalie Lobartolo, to explore the rocky shores at Bargara. Search for sea snails, barnacles and sea cucumbers hidden amongst the rocks and learn about this valuable coastal environment.

Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian. Closed in shoes such as reef walking shoes or sneakers that can get wet must be worn (no sandals or thongs). Please wear a hat, sunscreen and bring along a water bottle.
