Ping pong paddles will have a new purpose as part of an upcoming art exhibition in Bundaberg next month.

The Cross Gallery Ping Pong Exhibition and Awards 2019 is calling for artists to submit their most imaginative bat work to be showcased to the public.

A new exhibition has local artists transforming ping pong bats into unique pieces of art.

Gallery owner Clinton Cross said the exhibition was a first for Bundaberg and local artists were being urged to let their imagination run wild.

“I like to use different materials, like the ping pong bats, to get people thinking,” he said.

“They can be painted, used as scultpures, mixed with crochet or anything else.

“It really is up to the imagination of those participating.”

Mr Cross said entries were now being taken and were open until February 27.

Entry fees cost $25 to submit one bat artwork or $40 for two submissions.

Mr Cross said the exhibition was open to all ages and skill sets with a cash prize up for grabs for the most unique piece of work.

“There will be awards at the end of the exhibition with the Best in Show recipient receiving $250,” he said.

To submit your artwork, deliver to Clinton Cross at 43 Eletcra Street, Bundaberg, via post or in person.

Entry fee payment can be made via PayPal at clintoncross@outlook.com or in person during delivery time.
