Mayor Jack Dempsey took the opportunity today to meet high school student leaders and Mayor's Medal recipients for breakfast.

Schools from across the region were represented at one of the final representative engagements before the year concludes for senior students.

Mayor Dempsey praised the calibre of the young men and women who will be future leaders, not only across the Bundaberg Region but also on a national and international stage.

“Rise to the challenge, seize the opportunity today, don’t wait until tomorrow or that opportunity may be gone,” he said.

“You are a generation better equipped than anyone else to show a unique band of leadership.”

The students were accompanied by school principals and teaching staff.

The breakfast was held at The Deli in Targo Street.

The students who attended were: Isabelle Hocking and Isaac Stone (St Luke's), Paul McMahon and Rhys Crook (Shalom), Elias Harbison and Noah Hayes (Bundaberg Christian College), Luita Cislowski and Keziah Mitchel (Gin Gin State High School), Tianni Hooper and John Houton (Isis District State High School), Kasey Chandler and Alex Buckholz (Bundaberg State High School), Hanna Sahlberg and Blake Saffy (Bundaberg North State High School). Kepnock students were unavailable to attend.
