The Bundaberg Patrol Group has welcomed new Police Liaison Officer Edyta Gradowska, better known as ‘Edy’, to the team.
Officer Edy was born in Poland and came to Australia in 2013 to join her family.
For the past six years she has worked as a multicultural community worker and registered migration agent with communities across the Bundaberg Region.
Edy said her role as Police Liaison Officer was to work alongside people to promote trust between culturally specific communities and the Queensland Police Service.
“I also assist in development crime prevention strategies and improve the community access to policing services,” she said.
“My aim is to liaise closely with local multicultural groups, organisations and community leaders to develop strategies to address any law and order issues identified by communities and police officers as well as advise police officers on different cultural issues and protocols.”
Officer Edy said there were many aspects of her job she loved, inlcuding meeting new people every day.
“Definitely the variety of people I meet with and ability to assist vulnerable members of community,” she said.
When she isn't working, you might find Officer Edy taking a stroll around the region or spending time with her family.
“I enjoy travelling, going for long walks in our beautiful Bundaberg region, meeting new people and learning about their stories,” she said.
“My household is very multicultural and each person speaks a different language as their mother tongue, so we have developed our own language.
“If you hear me speaking to my family – I may use Polish, Arabic and English all in one sentence!”
