Applying for a grant with Bundaberg Regional Council just became easier and more streamlined, with applications now able to be made online through SmartyGrants.

Council’s Community Grants Program offers several financial assistance opportunities to the community; including grants for sport, special events and COVID-19 Community Support.

A Community Services Micro Grant Program is delivered monthly, with grants of up to $1000 for community organisations, clubs and small groups.

Additionally, community grants of up to $5000 are open three times a year for community groups to deliver activities, projects and events.

Community services portfolio spokesperson Cr Tracey McPhee said the SmartyGrants online platform became available on Council’s website on 1 July.

“It makes it so easy for groups to apply for grants,” Cr McPhee said.

“I’ve personally used the SmartyGrants online platform when applying for state government funding for my business.

“I was excited to hear Council had started using the platform, as it’s super easy to work with.

“I love the fact that you can save the application at any point, allowing you to get any extra required information for your application.”

With SmartyGrants’ smart technology, there are prompts if questions aren’t answered or if some answers make the application ineligible, so by the time the application is completed the applicant can be assured that it’s eligible and ready to be assessed.

Community grants workshops, including the use of SmartyGrants, will be undertaken in September and November across the region to promote the next round closing the last Friday in October and February.
