Local QCWA ladies have been working as hard as Santa to prepare a combined Christmas cent sale full of gifts and treats for the festive season.

QCWA Hinkler and QCWA Oakwood have joined forces for the return of cent sales after COVID-19 placed restriction on the branches earlier this year.

Oakwood president Mim Sinclair said the Christmas cent sale was going to “huge” and it would be “first in, first served” as the numbers remain limited.

“Normally both branches have their own cent sales throughout the year and then again leading up to Christmas,” Mim said.

“But because of COVID-19 restriction we have not been able to do this, which has been a shame and so we thought we would combine and hold one together.

“It will be larger than normal, but the number of people we can have will be restricted unfortunately.”

Mim said there will be a wonderful array of prizes up for grabs at the combined QCWA Christmas cent sale and it would be the perfect opportunity to win a few extra presents to place under the Christmas tree.

Increase your chances at Christmas cent sale

For those not accustomed to the popular cent sales, Mim said it was quite simple to take part, and always guaranteed a fun afternoon.

“Community members come along and pay X amount for so many tickets,” Mim said.

“They pay an entry fee of $3, which includes afternoon tea also.”

The more tickets purchased the better the odds at taking home multiple prizes as it’s a continuous raffle.

There will also be raffles, hoy, whip-around and a lucky door prize up to increase your chances.

“All the money we raise goes back into the community,” Mim said.

“It’ll be a great afternoon to get back out and about.”

The combined QCWA Hinkler and QCWA Oakwood Christmas cent sale will be held at North Progress Hall, Bundaberg North, on Saturday, December 12. Soors open 11.30am and the cent sale starts at 1pm.
