A blues country concert, featuring musician 8 Ball Aitken, will be a new feature of Agrotrend this year.

The Rotary Club of Bundaberg is gearing up for the 2021 Agrotrend event, which will offer a wide variety of stalls and some brand new features when it kicks off in two weeks time.

This year, Secretary Matthew Griffiths said there would be a few changes to the annual agriculture showcase, with a blues concert to replace the rodeo on Friday, 30 April.

“We've got a number of new features for 2021 Agrotrend, one of the big changes is this year we will have a blues country concert with musician 8 Ball Aitken on Friday night,” he said.

“This will be followed by some more entertainment on Saturday morning before the field day begins again.”

Matthew said the field days, which would celebrate everything agricultural on Friday 20 April and Saturday 1 May, had been operating for 40 years in the region.

“Agrotrend has been one of the biggest agricultural events in Australia, it is a historical event for us and a lot of people have very fond memories of it,” he said.

“This year we hope to have about 100 exhibitors with a wide range of different services showcased on the day, mostly agricultural but we usually have something for everyone.”

Agrotrend 2021 will also include the Bushies Breakfast on 1 May, with proceeds raised supporting BushKids.

Entry is at 8.30am with live music and a barbecue breakfast featured.

Other events and exhibits organised for the field days include the Agrotrend Strongman Competition and Tractor Pull, the Australasian Alpaca Association Show, the Ping Pong Ball Drop and the Poultry Fanciers Show.

Matthew said whether you were keen to check out and invest in the latest farming technologies or wanting a great day out with the family, Agrotrend 2021 promised to deliver after a year off in 2020 due to Covid-19.

“Agrotrend is a great opportunity for people in the wider community to meet, have a chat and do some business,” he said.

“We hope to have as much as the community support us as possible. We want everyone to come out and have a great day.”
