With over 150 quilts on display, the Bundaberg Quilters exhibition on this weekend at the Bundaberg Multiplex is one not to miss.
The exhibition is on from today through until 4 pm Sunday, with a range of stunning products and carefully hand crafted quilts on display.
Bundaberg Quilters Inc President Rhonda Dunning said there was something for everyone at the popular exhibition.
“We have 175 quilts on display this year, ranging from smaller sizes right through to extremely large ones,” Ms Dunning said.
“We have different stalls which are run by a range of traders and stock beautiful items as well as a stall with information on the Bundaberg Quilters Inc.
“With the club having started back in 1987 we have a history section here as well all about the club.”
Pulling together the exhibition has been no easy feat, with the postponement of last year’s event due to COVID, but the group has banded together to ensure this year’s exhibition was a success.
“We have had to be extremely conscious of the layout and spacing with COVID so everything is laid out appropriately and the planning process has been going for the past three years,” Ms Dunning said.
“We are very grateful to all the members who have done a lot behind the scenes to get it ready, not only making a quilt, which in itself is massive, but to actually get it all in here.
“We can’t forget the husbands; they have been fantastic and have helped with the big wooden quilt stands which we have had to bring down here from storage.”
This year's charity prize is a quilt that has been crafted by many group members.
“The main charity prize is the collaborative quilt,” Ms Dunning said.
“This means more than one person works on it so this particular quilt, 50 shades of blue, has been a bit of fun and different people get involved in making it from different aspects.”
Members range from their 20s through to 91, with some members having been part of the group since it formed in 1987.
