Bundaberg Gemfair a highlight on collector’s calendars

Bundaberg Gem and Mineral Club junior members Charli Herbener, Maddie Nordberg, Mia Jackson and Tahlia Nordberg are encouraging the community to head along to Bundaberg Gemfair 2021.

Bundaberg Gemfair 2021 will be a highlight on every gem collector and fossicker’s calendar as more than 100 tables are set to delight and captivate.

Unique and unusual gems, polished stones, and beautiful jewellery will be proudly displayed at Bundaberg’s 27th gemfair, which is open to the community.

Coordinating this year’s event, Jodi Prange said she was excited to host the 27th Gemfair at the new location at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, after the glittering success of the last Gemfair in 2019.

Jodi expects the tireless effort of volunteers in the lead up to the annual event to pay off as gem enthusiasts from around Queensland travel to the Bundaberg Region to snag a bargain or check out one of the many demonstrations.

“It’s always a popular event, we will have some of the same traders, but also a few new traders so there will be something for everyone,” she said.

“Our Gemfair is the biggest one that traders go to in Queensland, and we have secured 65 traders this year, so it’s slightly bigger then the last.”

Included on the long list of gem and mineral traders, Jodi said a gentleman from Mount Perry would attend to showcase his large table with beautiful opal inlaid into it, and she said it would be a sight on its own and definitely something not to miss.

“We will see the return of the children’s mine, and it’s always a crowd favourite for the same price of 50 cents, so it attracts the young, and the young at heart,” she said.

“We will have working demonstrations in lapidary and so much more.

“It’s really going to be a great opportunity for people who want to learn about gems, stones and jewellery making to come along and check out what is on offer.”

Bundaberg Gemfair 2021 will be held on 5 and 6 November at Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, for more information click here.
