Chill out at Picnic in the Park with the Musos

11 local artists will take part in Picnic in the Park with the Musos, and they ranged from solo performers, duos, right through to bands.

A free community event has been supported by 11 local artists to help the music industry recover and bring the community together for Picnic in the Park with the Musos.

Family and friends can take along a blanket, relax and enjoy the atmosphere while listening to local musicians for the inaugural event.

Picnic in the Park with the Musos organiser Rawinia Elsmore has spent more than 20 years in the music scene in Bundaberg, and she feels now is the perfect time for musicians to come together for a free community event.

“This is about bringing the community back together after all we’ve been through in the last two years,” she said.

“A lot of musos haven’t been together for a long time. Some haven’t played together since the 2013 flood concert.

“It’s a chance to get back to normal with music.”

Rawinia said 11 local artists would take part in Picnic in the Park with the Musos, and they ranged from solo performers, duos, right through to bands.

“They are all doing it off their own backs,” she said.

“We will have buckets out for donations which will go back to the musician, who really have done it tough through the last two years with Covid-19.

“There will be vendors on site and musos will sell their own merch too.”

Picnic in the Park with the Musos will be held at Lions Park on Sunday, 6 February.

Being part of band Pennies from Heaven, Rawinia said she was excited as all the musicians were on the same wavelength.

“It’s going to a be fun family event out in the open air at Lions Park along the Burnett River with plenty of shade,” she said.

“It will start at 11 am and go through until 4.30-5 pm – I know if we could add all the musicians in this town we wouldn’t finish performing for a month as we have so many talented musos here.”
