Isis Masonic Lodge bar proceeds will be donated back into the local Childers community.

Proceeds from the Isis Masonic Lodge bar at this weekend’s Childers Festival will be donated back to the local community to support a range of local organisations.

The bar, located next to the main stage in Crescent Street on Saturday night and Sunday will use the money raised to assist in supporting a number of different community programs.

The bar will be open on Saturday from 4 pm – 9.30 pm for Little Italy and from 10 am until around 2.30 pm on Sunday for festival day.

While it has not been decided exactly which community organisations will receive funds, bar organiser Ben Goding said proceeds would go towards a worthy cause.

“We have been a part of the Childers Festival since the beginning with the proceeds of the weekend always going back into the Childers community,” Ben said.

“We have not assigned any donations this year as we do not know how much we will be able to give but as the year goes on we always find worthy causes to support.

“In the past we have made donations to the local kindergarten, Cricket Club, Little Athletics and Woodgate Community Events.

“Our donations are usually towards useful items to these groups such as play equipment, uniforms, and sun shelters.

“We also make contributions to individuals such as students that might need a hand getting to a sporting event or a learning experience that their parents may not be able to afford.”

Ben encouraged the whole community to visit Childers throughout the four day festival, with something for everyone on offer.

“The Childers Festival is a must for locals and visitors alike,” he said.

“It is an opportunity to see the diverse cultural background that is in and around the Isis, as well as support local businesses, performers and charity groups from around the Bundaberg Region.

“There is more to see than just the street closure for the vendors and food stalls as the event starts on Thursday with events including the Rotary Clubs Canefire tour and dinner and continues through to live music on Saturday night in Crescent street.

“Whether you are coming for the food or the entertainment there is something for everyone at the Festival!”
