The community is invited to attend the live streaming of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre.
Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey at 11 am British Standard Time on Monday, September 19.
For Australia it will take place in the evening of the same day, at approximately 8 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time and broadcast on ABC NEWS channel.
Bundaberg Regional Council will host a community event to live stream the broadcast of the funeral at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre.
This will be a free non-ticketed event for people to attend.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away at her home in Balmoral, Scotland on September 8, which was Friday 9 September AEST, after serving as the longest-reigning monarch of the Commonwealth.
Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said the community had a special connection to the Queen after she visited the Bundaberg Region during her first royal tour of Australia in March 1954.
“Almost 70 years ago Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was the only reigning monarch to visit Queensland, and her first stop was to the Bundaberg Region,” Cr Learmonth said.
“It was recorded that more than 30,000 community members turned out for the momentous occasion, that had been in the making for some months.
“Now the community will have the opportunity to view the final goodbye as it is live-streamed on the screen at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre.”
