The Bundaberg 4WD Club Inc members recently attended the 4WDQLD Corroboree, in which over 200 vehicles from clubs from around the state descended on the showgrounds at Stanthorpe.
The weekend included socialising, four wheel driving and reporting on what clubs had been up to with the event having been postponed a year due to Covid.
A mix of self-drive, easy to hard trips were on offer as well as a range of activities to keep everyone entertained.
The Associations Country meeting was held on the Saturday afternoon for clubs to have a say, face to face, with the executive that guide clubs in the state.
Sponsors were onsite to give information on their products and offer attendees some great deals.
The area had been struggling with drought conditions and the town of Stanthorpe had resorted to trucking in water for the residents.
That had changed recently with rains filling dams and greening up the area.
The weekend of the event saw constant rain, which made organisers change, or cancel certain trips protect the tracks.
Even though plans changed there were still plenty of trails to explore.
At least the rain made sure the creeks were flowing and the waterfalls offered spectacular views.
The Toyota Landcruiser Club (QLD) celebrated their 50th anniversary this year, so the Saturday night’s entertainment tied in with the 70s theme, with club members attending the 70s disco night encouraged to don a costume and dance the night away.
Points towards the perpetual Inter Club Trophy were awarded and added to the other activities that gained points for the prestigious award.
The Gold Coast 4WD Club were awarded the weekends overall winners, with their name adorning the trophy once again, taking out the title at the last Corroboree as well.
We look forward to next year’s event, with plans under way to head to Charters Towers and explore the Northern clubs playground.
