Community members can hear firsthand about an epic rail journey across Australia as travel writer Tim Richards visits Bundaberg Library.
Freelance travel writer and Lonely Planet guidebook contributor Tim decided to shake up his life by taking an epic rail journey across Australia.
Jumping aboard iconic trains like the Indian Pacific, Overland and Spirit of Queensland, he covers over 7000 kilometres, from the tropics to the desert and from big cities to ghost towns.
Tim’s journey is one of classic travel highs and lows: floods, cancellations, extraordinary landscapes and forays into personal and public histories – as well as the steady joy of random strangers encountered along the way.
As a travel writer Tim’s work has appeared in publications around the world, including Lonely Planet’s guidebooks.
Tim fell into travel writing after living and teaching in Egypt and Poland, and he is especially drawn to the former communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
With his light-packing and obsessive nature, Tim loves chasing down a story with a historical angle.
Tim will be the host of Bundaberg Regional Libraries January author talk, which will be held at Bundaberg Library on Wednesday, 18 January at 10.30 am.
Bookings for the author talk will be taken from 4 January online via Eventbrite or by phoning the Library on 4130 4140.
