New students get to know CQUniversity campus

CQU orientation
Orientation day was held at the CQUniversity Bundaberg campus on Wednesday with 100 new students in attendance.

More than 100 new students attended the CQUniversity Bundaberg orientation day welcome event on Wednesday ahead of the official start of term next week.

Events included on-campus and online information sessions as well as social events, held both online and physically at 10 campus locations.

Vice-President (Academic) Professor Michelle Bellingan said it was a joy to see so many students not only participate in face-to-face activities but join-in via online platforms.

“We had more than a thousand students turn up collectively to the welcome events held on campuses including in Brisbane, Bundaberg, Cairns, Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay, Melbourne, Rockhampton, Sydney and Townsville,” Professor Bellingan said.

“Students were provided with an opportunity to learn about support services including scholarships, counselling, academic support and course advice and it was also wonderful to see our international students from a diverse range of countries, back on campus.”

The new CQUniversity term officially starts on Monday 6 March where thousands of new and returning students will commence their 2023 studies.

Overall new student numbers across the university footprint are trending well, with the most in-demand undergraduate courses being nursing, education (primary and secondary), paramedic science, psychology, business and information technology.
