Originally from the Gold Coast, John moved to the Bundaberg Region 12 years ago and said he enjoys painting the coastal areas.

In 2021, John won the people’s choice at the local Bundaberg Art Prize with his winning painting Koi Ponds.

John said he was pleased to have won the award as it provides him with reassurance that even after over forty years of painting, his work is still improving.

“I personally started painting at an early age, basically because I found it was what I was best at,” John said.

“It placed me in my comfort zone, and still does till this day.

“I hope people who view my paintings get a feeling of wellbeing and can find an appreciation of the subjects I try to portray.”

Cavin has predominately focused on water colour through his artist career, and he is also known for his illustration abilities, and he published his first children’s book Tiny Turtle Tim in 2020.

The Generator Art Show will take place at 6 – 9pm from 20 to 22 March at 155B Bourbong Street, Bundaberg.
