Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service has advised masks are no longer mandatory in Bundaberg, Childers, Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah and Mundubbera Hospitals.

Mask wearing is still required in Monto and Gin Gin Hospitals.

COVID-19 Incident Controller Ben Ross-Edwards said on the advice of experienced clinical leadership, WBHHS made a decision in the lead-up to Easter to implement mask-wearing in some facilities.

“We’re pleased to see that our caution paid off, and with the cooperation of our staff and community, we’ve seen COVID-19 numbers stabilise,” he said.

“While there are still a small number of cases throughout the region, we’re relaxing mask-wearing requirements in Bundaberg, Childers, Biggenden, Eisdvold, Gayndah and Mundubbera Hospitals.

“Due to a moderate risk of community transmission, we’re asking staff and community at Monto and Gin Gin Hospitals to continue wearing masks on WBHHS premises.

“We thank our dedicated staff and supportive community for their cooperation in this matter over the past few weeks.”

WBHHS will advise the public of any further change to visitor requirements if they occur.
