Songbird and improvised comedy queen Jenny Wynter is bringing her musical comedy extravaganza to the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre on 14 August in a free community event sure to delight audiences.
The free event is presented by Mornings @ the Moncrieff.
As a completely improvised show, each performance is a unique event, never to be repeated.
Before the performance begins, audience members pop suggestions into a large bowl onstage which Jenny then weaves together to form the character, stories and songs of the show.
“It’s like a ridiculous musical raffle!” she said.
Jenny loves the silliness of some of the suggestions she receives and said even ordinary suggestions were fun to turn into song.
“I try my best to weave it all together so it makes some kind of sense, but sometimes I think the audience seems to enjoy it more when it’s just completely absurd,” she said.
“One of the weirdest was a love-song named after the text message: ‘Your bill for $249.72 is overdue, RACQ’.
“It ended up being an epic emotional love-song sung as a duet with an audience member who brought the house down.”
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said Jenny’s show would be a fun and entertaining morning for the audience.
“Providing free community screenings and live performances at the Moncrieff is a great way for Council to engage the community in the performing arts,” he said.
Jenny said she was excited to bring her show to the Moncrieff and perform for the first time to a Bundaberg audience.
“I’ve been trying to think up a Bundaberg-specific way to open the show,” she said.
“This is literally your once-in-a-lifetime chance to see it, because I can 100% guarantee it will never happen again!”
