More than 130 market stalls and an array of entertainment is set to keep the community entertained at this year's Moore Park Beach Arts Festival.

The annual event will be held this Saturday 19 August with organisers saying it’s expected to be bigger and better than ever before.

Moore Park Beach Arts Inc’s President Trish Mears said it would be a great day out for all ages.

“There really is something for everyone at this year’s festival,” Trish said.

“From discovering some treasures at our markets, to enjoying tasty food and drinks, to learning new skills and enjoying great art and entertainment, we think all ages will have plenty to enjoy at this year’s Moore Park Beach Arts Festival.”

Trish said there were many ways for friends and families to enjoy the Moore Park Beach Arts Festival.

The brilliant kites will also be flown on the beach, which are always a huge hit, from around 9.30 am.

Labyrinth creators Cynthia Hoogstraten and Ramona Lane will not only be creating a labyrinth on the beach, but they will also hold a Circles in the Sand art competition from 2 pm.

Trish said Circles in the Sand entrants would be allocated a circle and they could decorate it however they chose with fantastic prizes on offer.

She said there would be lots of interactive fun including an Instameet where community members are invited to capture the fun of the festival with their camera phones. Anyone who would like to take part can meet near the stage at 9.50 am.

Other activities include Sandology sand sculpture, blacksmithing and lots more.

Ol Meri Wantok’s Pacific Village will be a highlight of the day, with festival goers able to wander through and learn about many cultures, their arts and crafts and foods.

There will be skate workshops at the skate park: 10.30 am for ages 5 to 10; and at 1 pm for ages 11 and older.

Children of all ages will also be catered for with Rides n Slides, Funny Bunnies Soft Play, Wide Bay Kids’ Giant Art Trail and Alpacas.

There’ll also be an array of food and drinks and over 130 market stalls.

The Moore Park Beach Art Awards, in the Community Centre from 10 am – 5 pm, will have some wonderful art on display, with many of the entries available for sale.

This year there has been a 15% increase on last year’s entries, with 312 entries from 149 entrants.

The winning entries of the Moore Park Beach Pharmacy Primary School Art Competition will also be on display.

Art coordinator Heather Vanderwaal said it had been great to see so many students take part.

“We thank both Gooburrum and Moore Park Beach primary schools for their participation and support”, Heather said.

“The artwork done by the students is amazing and shows such dedication and talent”.

After fabulous stage entertainment all day from 10am, festival goers are encouraged to bring a picnic rug and sit and enjoy the Headline Act at 6pm – Susie Jay and Joe Ace, who were a hit on Australia’s Got Talent and who will be appearing with some very special “guests”. The Moore Park Beach Arts Festival will finish in spectacular fashion with fireworks just after 7 pm.
