Two Bundaberg doctors have been selected as part of the Country to Coast Queensland (CCQ) Clinical Council to advise on achieving health outcomes throughout the region.
Dr Bradley Murphy and Dr Cornelius Nydam were announced alongside 15 other healthcare professionals from across Central Queensland, Wide Bay and Sunshine Coast regions.
This enhanced council will not only help CCQ understand the local nuances of small communities but also enable them to work collectively on issues which are common everywhere.
CCQ is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that delivers the Primary Health Network (PHN) programs on behalf of the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care.
Through community needs-assessment they aim to commission leading health services which meet the needs of the region to achieve their healthiest outcomes.
CCQ Board Chair Dr Peter Dobson said he was proud to announce the new Clinical Council which would provide advice directly to the CCQ Board and Executive.
“The new Clinical Council is a multi-disciplinary group that includes membership including GPs, clinical education, research, hospital, QAS and Allied Health professionals combining our three regions into one collaborative council,” Dr Dobson said.
“Their opportunity is to bring localised strategic insight to help shape the future of primary care across the region.”
CCQ CEO Julie Sturgess said the council’s first meeting would be on 19 September.
“The CCQ Clinical Council will work closely with the CCQ Board, CCQ Executive and the Consumer Council (EOIs are now closed), and Aboriginal Roundtable to provide advice on clinical issues impacting primary care and influence policy to improve health outcomes for the community,” Julie said.
