October at Burnett Heads sees Celebration of the Arts return with the program expanding for COTA’s second year.

This year’s lineup includes artist workshops plus Lighthouse Rock, the School Art Project and the Art and Photography exhibition.

Hebel Sculpture Carving workshop with Zeatta Baulch

Zeatta is a self-taught artist, who paints abstract pictures and dabbles in pottery, macramé and jewellery making.

Her interest in Hebel sculpture started when a broken leg kept her confined to quarters for several months.

Participants will be provided with everything needed to design and make a candle holder or bowl.

School Art Project

The School Art Project is part of the Burnett Heads Progress and Sports Association 2023 Art and Photography Show.

Participating schools will create a sculpture from found and recycled materials using the theme, River Land Sea for inspiration.

Local artist Helen Crocker has been visiting each of the five state primary schools, Burnett Heads, Bargara, Elliott Heads, Woongarra and Kalkie demonstrating the art of sculpture to help the students with their creations.

Entries from schools will be displayed alongside the artworks at the show, with a perpetual trophy awarded to the winner.

Art and Photography Exhibition

The Burnett Heads Art and Photography Exhibition is a popular event on the art community calendar with over 160 pieces showcased in last year’s exhibition.

The exhibition opening will provide the artists a chance to interact with invited guests and potential buyers before the winning artworks for each category are announced.

An expert panel will judge the works prior to the opening night.
