The community is getting ready to celebrate the season at the annual Moore Park Beach Christmas Carols and Markets on Saturday 16 December.

The free community event takes place at the Moore Park Beach Community Centre from 4 to 8 pm and promises to be bigger and better than before with plenty of festive fun on offer.

The celebration, organised by Moore Park Beach Arts Inc, Moore Park Community Association and Moore Park Lions, is part of the region's Christmas program and will feature markets, food stalls, stage entertainment, sandcastles on the beach and a visit from Santa, all topped off with a fireworks display.

Moore Park Beach Arts Inc President Trish Mears said it was an event which helped to bring the community together.

“A Moore Park Beach ChristmasCarols and Markets is a popular Christmas community event in the Bundaberg Region, and we are expecting the event to be bigger and better than last year, with stage entertainment, Christmas markets, food stalls, fireworks and, of course, a visit from Santa, with free lollies and presents for the kids,” Ms Mears said.

She added that the organisation was grateful for Battery World Bundaberg’s contribution to the jolly event, adding extra brightness with the donation of 500 candles from Robert and Karina Jarrett for community members to wave as they sing alongside the Moore Park Beach Christmas Choir.

Robert said they wanted to play their part in helping the community come together and enjoy a night of celebration.

“We have been attending and donating candles at the Moore Park Beach Christmas Carols for the past five years and it gives us all a great opportunity to get out and get amongst the fun,” Robert said.

“There’s something about the joy on the little kids’ faces, mingling, and good old’ fashion banter with some of the regular customers that makes this event so much fun each year.”
