Old fashioned fun for Australia Day

Old fashioned fun for Australia Day
Koby, Rylan and Oakley enjoyed their Australia Day afternoon with their mum Denieka Stevens at the community picnic at Bargara in 2020.

The Great Australian Bites experience will bring the community together for Bundaberg Regional Council’s official Australia Day celebration, featuring some good old fashioned Aussie fun.

Returning for the fifth year, the Australian Day celebrations will deliver a menu of popular local food options and home-grown musicians, at Nielson Park Beach on Friday 26 January.

Rotary Club of Bundaberg City Daybreak will host the event, working in collaboration with Bundaberg Regional Council and Great Australian Bites, to deliver an enjoyable and affordable day out for families.

Shane Chung from the Rotary Club of Bundaberg City Daybreak said the club was proud to be hosting the Australia Day event.

“It’s a great day for the community,” Shane said.

“As a dedicated group who love where we live, we could not think of a better place to celebrate Australia Day than beautiful Nielson Park Beach.

“We’ve seen the event grow with the help of Events Organiser, Ainsley Gatley from Event Networx and the Bundaberg Regional Council, to deliver a day that’s been hugely successful and well received by the community.”

Friends and family can come together on Australia Day and relax on a picnic blanket in the park whilst enjoying the food, fun and festivities.

There will be a host of great live entertainment throughout the event, including Australian Day themed games to get involved in.

“Well firstly they’ll be able to taste the best cooked snags at Nielsons Park Beach, cooked by our very own culinary experts from the Rotary Club of Bundaberg City Daybreak,” Shane said.

“It’s an opportunity to enjoy a relaxed day chilling, listening to great local bands play live music and eating delicious food at a beautiful location, and best of all its free!”
