Bundaberg’s Botanic Gardens will be transformed into a magical wonderland for the month-long Easter in the Gardens 2024 celebration.

Returning for its second year Easter in the Gardens, hosted by Wide Bay Kids Community Inc, will run from 17 March to 14 April promoting community connection and participation.

With the assistance of a Bundaberg Regional Council Partnerships and Sponsorships Grant, Easter in the Gardens will provide an expanded program of events in 2024.

The program of events will feature egg-citing activities for all ages, including an Easter egg hunt with artistically decorated giant eggs, self-drive and community bus tours and a festival day with live entertainment.

Wide Bay Kids' Gayle Reynolds said due to the overwhelming positive support from participants in 2023, we wanted to develop the program to offer a wider range of entertainment and inclusive activities.

“The Bundaberg Regional Council Grant and additional business sponsorships, Wide Bay Kids have been able to add a festival day, a self-drive tour and a community bus tour,” Gayle said.

“The organisation will also be utilising assistive technology throughout the walking tour offering audible descriptive narration when a QR code is scanned.

“This is creating a more inclusive experience primarily for participants who are blind or experience low vision.

“However, descriptive narration is often a useful resource to support the needs of other participants who benefit from audio descriptions.

“2023 was the Year of Accessible Tourism, so with that in mind we wanted to start including more accessible features to our programs and events.

“This is the first time we have used audio description to offer equitable viewing experiences to participants and we are keen to hear feedback from the public.”
