Local creatives are encouraged to explore the human figure through two Creative Crowd workshops that will be presented at Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery in April.

Held in conjunction with the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2023 exhibition currently on display, the Creative Crowd workshops offer an immersive three-hour experience with expert tuition through guided activities.

Life Painting, with Sunshine Coast artist Jordyn Burnett, promises to be a dynamic class that investigates traditional techniques with a contemporary twist.

The class will focus on expression, gesture, and the male anatomy, as participants draw and paint with a variety of media to help uncover their own unique style.

Jordyn said the class would offer a different experience to life drawing, which was reflective of her approach to art.

“I am always trying new things and experimenting, wanting to learn more about myself within my practice which is what I bring into every workshop and something I find very important for everyone to have a crack at in their artistic journey,” she said.

“The experience of life drawing/painting isn’t all about the realism and expected outcomes, it’s about finding something new about yourself as an artist and finding new perspective.”

In his workshop, Around Photography, guest artist Warwick Gow will help attendees to explore a holistic approach to photography and portraiture.

Warwick uses photography to look at notions of identity and self, and the workshop aims to help participants find new ways to photograph by focusing on the process of being photographed.

Both workshops are open to creatives of all levels of experience and offer opportunities to get expert guidance, ask questions and refine skills while creating new works.
