An all abilities art exhibition will be held at The Book Boutique this June and July showcasing the work of six local emerging artists with disabilities and one fiction writer with a disability.

This will be the first exhibition for all but one artist and is an important step in developing their capacity and confidence in their arts practice.

Support from the local community will prove invaluable for the artists and will be greatly beneficial in encouraging the continued pursuit of their art.

The artists have been working for the last twelve months to prepare pieces for the exhibition.

The event will showcase a variety of styles unique to each individual, from abstract to hyper-realistic.

Mediums used include acrylic painting, watercolour, pastel and mixed media.

Attendees are also invited to read the blurb for one creative writer’s work in progress, an epic fantasy romance.

All artists are supported by Jacqueline Read at The Creative Ability Hub who is facilitating the exhibition.

One artist was supported to apply and was ultimately successful in receiving a Regional Arts Development Fund grant through the Bundaberg Regional Council and the Queensland Government.

Consequently, this artist Jana Connolly, has produced a significant body of work.

The exhibition is an important outcome for her developing arts practice and forms part of the grant acquittal process.

All artists are contributing art produced independently at home and at The Creative Ability Hub studio.

Opening night will be the culmination of all their hard work and will be a highlight for all artists and the community.
