International women's day
Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre invite the community to invited to celebrate International Women’s Day with a breakfast event at Gin Gin Bowls Club.

Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre will celebrate International Women’s Day in March with a morning of inspiring speeches and fellowship over a delicious breakfast at Gin Gin Bowls Club.

Interested community members can book now to attend the event on Friday 7 March, with tickets just $15 per person, which includes a full breakfast.

Hear from local women change makers Robyn Hunter and Molly Jensen as they speak about their experiences and generational growth in women.

Bundaberg Regional Council Community Resilience and Connection portfolio spokesperson Councillor Tracey McPhee said International Women’s Day celebrations were an opportunity to empower individuals and communities to enact real change.

“The International Women’s Day theme this year is ‘March Forward’ and asks us all to consider how we can increase the momentum for gender equality,” Cr McPhee said.

“We need events like this to bring together likeminded people and discuss what can be done locally to improve the situation for current and future generations of women.”

Cr McPhee said the annual event usually attracted more than 50 attendees, making for a great atmosphere.

“We hope many people in the community attend again this year, to enjoy the camaraderie and sense of belonging that the gathering creates,” she said.

“Everyone is welcome to come, to listen, and to join the conversation on how we can work together towards positive change.”

Raffle tickets available on the day will benefit the neighbourhood centre’s Gin Gin Community Food Pantry initiative, which provides non-perishable food items to help those in need.

International Women’s Day will be marked around the world this year on Saturday 8 March.
