A new optometry business has opened at Kepnock Town Centre offering patients comprehensive examinations and an in-depth look at eye health.
Bundaberg optometrists and directors Jennifer Chi and Stephen Everard have the details:
Can you provide an overview of the unique products or services your business will offer and how they cater to local needs?
At The Oculists, we go beyond standard eye tests—our comprehensive examinations take an in-depth look at eye health, detecting issues early to protect vision for the long term.
We offer niche services like myopia control clinics for children and are registered to perform genetic risk assessments for glaucoma, helping our patients take a proactive approach to their eye health.
We also provide tailored vision solutions with access to products not available through corporate practices, such as TGA-approved, clinically proven migraine lenses.
Most importantly, we believe knowledge is power, so we take the time to educate our patients, ensuring they understand their eye health and the best options for their vision.
What inspired you to choose the Bundaberg Region as the location for your new business?
Bundaberg is home for us—it’s where we’ve built relationships and strong connections with the community.
We saw an opportunity to create something special, a practice that offers expert clinical care with a welcoming, personal experience, somewhere where people can walk in and feel looked after like family.
What milestones have you achieved in the lead-up to your opening?
Opening a new practice from the ground up has been an exciting journey!
From designing a space that’s both functional and inviting, to building a team that shares our passion for exceptional care, every step has been a milestone.
Our official opening marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long and meaningful relationship with the community, and we’re celebrating by welcoming everyone in—whether it’s for an eye test, a new pair of glasses, or just a friendly chat to get to know us.

How can local residents and businesses support your new venture?
Supporting local businesses is about more than just making a purchase—it’s about building a stronger, more connected community.
Whether it’s booking an eye exam, referring a friend, or simply spreading the word, every small action helps us grow.
We deeply value our local GPs, specialists, and healthcare professionals – working closely with them to ensure our patients receive the best possible care.
We also value our connections with local groups and associations, whether through educational morning teas on eye health or finding ways to give back through our time and service.
Are there any sustainability initiatives you are implementing that sets your business apart?
We’re always looking for ways to do things better, and sustainability is an important part of that.
We proudly support brands that prioritize eco-friendly practices.
One of our favourite brands is Project Green, they plant a tree for every pair of their plant-based glasses sold.
By offering sustainable eyewear options, we’re giving our patients the choice to invest in both quality vision and a healthier planet.
Where are you located and how can the community find out more or contact you?
We’re conveniently located at Shop 1A, Kepnock Town Centre, 106 Fe Walker Street.
