Endeavour Foundation’s well known Bundaberg disability social enterprise in Norville is seeking urgent community support.
The Business Solutions work site has been employing people with a disability since 1973, but is turning to the community for help to make jobs available for people with a disability well into the future.
“We have always believed in the value of employment for people with a disability who want to work, but fulfilling that mission has become increasingly difficult under the NDIS,” Acting Executive General Manager of Work Greg McCluand said.
“We need a different approach that is viable in the long term.
“That’s why we are asking for support and looking for new partnerships with local businesses, community groups and perhaps even the council.
“We are investigating alternative employment options and also want to bring more work in for our talented employees.”
Mr McCluand said one-off jobs, commercial contracts, seasonal farm work, food packaging, general packaging and assembly work would be welcomed.
“We are open to just about anything,” he said.
“Another option is the opportunity for our talented employees with disabilities to work for other organisations.
“We are keen to talk to business and community groups about the support we can offer to make this happen.”
Mr McCluand said partnering with the social enterprise could help provide opportunities for people with disability to work, develop skills, earn an income and be involved in their community while achieving great commercial outcomes for business.
